Baumkuchen Story

Baumkuchen Story

Baumkuchen is not only recognised by its extraordinary aspect but by its interesting way of preparation. It takes skills and patience to bake layer after layer onto a rotating spit. The end result is thin and flawless layers and when cut across resemble a tree trunk with many rings.

Baumkuchen is also known as “The King of Cakes”

The name Baumkuchen comes from two German words; Baum that means tree and Kuchen that means cake, it is said that the first written recipe was found in a cooking book around 1426. The cake has different variations over several  countries around the world.

Over time, the cake has slightly changed its appearance depending on the country where the cake is made. However, the tecnique used is the same unique way on baking on a spit.
